Ceannabeinne

Ceannabeinne is the first beach you will come to once you have rounded Loch Eriboll. It is a small sandy beach, flanked by rocks at either end, and close to the roadside. Conveniently, there is a car park directly next to it on the other side of the road and well-maintained steps leading down to it.

It is an attractive location and historically, and out of the tourist season, it makes for a nice, reasonably short walk across a quiet beach. There are also a number of caves that can be explored, although keep an eye on the tide.

In recent years a zip line has been installed across the beach and it is now a popular stop on the itinerary of NC500 travellers. The line allows visitors to zip across the beach at 45 mph, enjoying a thrilling high up view of the beautiful scenery. It only operates during tourist season and in good weather so it is not possible to prebook. However, it is usually relatively easy to get a go on it when it is running just by turning up. At time of writing it was £15 per person.

Notes for visitors with limited mobility:

The route down to the beach is a relatively easy walk but it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
