The Captains is such a wonderful holiday cottage, in prime position for loads of exploring. We hugely enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely and cosy, with loads of character and great views. Comfortable, and beautifully decorated with local artefacts – it’s great to see so many wonderful paintings of the local area on the walls – which turn out to be done by the owner!
It’s an excellent base for travelling to the many local beaches, particularly Farr beach and Torrisdale bay. Walks can be as long or short as you’d like them to be and you’re still able to do an awful lot of exploring without getting in the car.
Bettyhill is a lovely little town, with a very convenient local shop & post office as well as a wonderful café, The Store.
We will definitely be returning!

Quite a different pace of life to down south but surprisingly not as isolated and remote as I feared it might be. Just enough local amenities in Bettyhill and home comforts in the cottage to meet all my needs whilst feeling like I had properly got away from the usual stresses. I couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind, tranquil surroundings and beautiful scenery.

Plenty of lovely locations to explore and I didn't get time to visit them all so I can't wait to return!
