About a mile and half beyond the entrance to Dunrobin Castle is the village of Golspie, a linear settlement of about 1350 people between the coast and the mountain of Ben Bhraggie.
There are a few convenient shops along the main street, and a car park and public toilet tucked away down a right turn. There is also a very convenient car park next to the beach, which can make a good spot for a picnic lunch, or you could park here and pop into one of the takeaway cafes on the street.
The beach is split into the North and South by a tidal pier and both are award-winning safe swimming beaches. However, if you don't fancy swimming in the sea, there is a public swimming pool in the centre of town. If you fancy something more sporty and rugged, then at the back of Golspie is a mountain bike trail centre.
Notes to visitors with limited mobility:
Golspie is mostly a flat village, making getting around it by wheelchair relatively easy. There are disabled toilets. The beach is an very easy walk from the car park but it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
